Summary: A new trail in Hailey gets early season traffice. Heavy at some points in the day and evening. Great lunch time work out or sunset hike.
Getting There: From the stoplight at Bullion Street and Hwy 75 in downtown Hailey, park 1 block West of Hop Porter Park. The hike begins here.

Hike Guide :

0.0 From the stoplight in Hailey, head west on Bullion Street, quickly crossing over the Big Wood River.

0.1 You will most likely see cars parked on the right side of the road next to the river and in front of a wooden fence. Go through the opening and head west.

0.2 Stay on the hiking trail that does not head straight up the ridge.

Option: take the ridge line straight up and come down the switch backs. This will cut the hike time in 1/2 and give you a great leg workout!

0.3 After a small climb, the trail now starts to switchback to the to.

2.1 The trail heads over the small saddle and crosses a jeep road. Stay on the hiking trail as it switchbacks on the east side of the slope for a bit before heading back over the south-facing slopes.

3.1 The top of the hike and Carbonate Mountain. From here you can turn around and go back down the way you came up. Or y ou could continue along the ridge trail heading north. Should you choose to go north the trail continues just past the powerlines and heads into a drainage to the west. It eventually ends just to the west of the Humane Society. This is private property so please be considerate of grazing animals.

6.2 Back down from Carbonate and back at your car. Stretch those legs.
