It's spring in the Wood River Valley! The temperatures have been warm causing the snow to melt at record rates. Nordic skiing is still good up north however not for long. I have heard rumors of snow snakes reaching up and grabbing skis at Billy's Bridge. Galena is still skiing but is closing a little earlier because of the rapid melting. The Ride, Stride, Glide has been moved ahead to Sunday, April 1st marking the end of the season for Galena Lodge. Grooming is starting to become sporadic due to the warmer temps at night so call the nordic hotline at 578-9754 to hear the latest condition. From this point forward unless there is a colder snap in the weather we suggest waxing for skate with CH or LF 8 and for classic use a Universal Klister or Silver Klister. Remember to protect the bases  your skis over the summer by bringing them in for their end of season storage wax.

Don and Erin have done a fantastic job at Galena this year so head up north while you can and support the Galena team by grabbing lunch, drinks and going for a ski.

For those transitioning into spring and biking season the bike path is totally dry from Bellevue to Ketchum. Please use caution when riding by letting walkers, runners and other users know when you are passing by using a bell or verbally letting them know you are going to pass. Think south valley for your mountain biking. Carbonate, Toe of the Hill and Quigley are riding great. There is still snow and water on the trails in Democrat and Lambs Gulch so ride with caution.
