Sun Valley has long been known as a premier winter destination. Rightfully so but the real secret is summers in Sun Valley. When the flowers bud and the surrounding hills turn green the summer games are on.. Some of the finest single track mountain bike trails are on fire, hiking trails are in shape and summer activities abound. Typical summer temperatures range comfortably between 80's and lows in the 40's and with 15 hours of daylight there is plenty of time to get out and play.

During the spring you can expect few people and an abundance of terrain to play in. Mountain bike trails begin to dry out in the south valley while the spring corn snow can be on in the north valley. Day time temperatures to creep up to towards the 70’s and evenings are cool. It is time to get the bikes out of storage and tuned up and organize the climbing gear.

Sun Valley Idaho Vacation

The autumn season in Sun Valley is magical. Once schools begin and visitors go back home this is Sun Valley perhaps at its best according to local opinion. During “slack” the spectacular fall foliage begins to show its majesty. This is a great time for peak bagging, running, hiking and don’t forget to break out those roller skis for some early dry land training. If we are blessed by Indian summer temps can range between the 70's and dip into the 30’s.

Winter is what put Sun Valley on the map. The Sun Valley Resort is America’s first destination resort, originated in 1936 by Union Pacific Railroad. It is located in the Northern Rockies region of south central Idaho boasting light dry powder and sunshine 120 days out of 150 during the winter months. There are more outdoor recreations here than any other destination resort in the U.S. including would class nordic trails and phenomenal backcountry skiing.
