The autumn season in Sun Valley is magical. Once schools begin and visitors go back home this is Sun Valley perhaps at its best according to local opinion. During “slack” the spectacular fall foliage begins to show its majesty. This is a great time for peak bagging, running, hiking and don’t forget to break out those roller skis for some early dry land training. If we are blessed by Indian summer temps can range between the 70's and dip into the 30’s.
Winter is what put Sun Valley on the map. The Sun Valley Resort is America’s first destination resort, originated in 1936 by Union Pacific Railroad. It is located in the Northern Rockies region of south central Idaho boasting light dry powder and sunshine 120 days out of 150 during the winter months. There are more outdoor recreations here than any other destination resort in the U.S. including would class nordic trails and phenomenal backcountry skiing.
